MySpace refuses to help us download our IndieBlogg videos, claiming they "don't offer that function." Since we lost all our original files when our computer was stolen, and MySpace already trashed our 5000 member IMC group without warning, better click here to watch them now before they disappear forever. :(
Now in its eighth year, and planning the TWELFTH event, the IMC is still the only music conference in the nation specifically for independent musicians. The Independent Music Conference ® is a Federally Registered Trademark. Presented by IndieGate.com online independent music store, the IMC focuses on empowering musicians to achieve indie success. This event is NOT about "how to get signed" or "discovered." If you are smart enough to know that the chances are slim to none that someone in a stretch limo will pull up to your curb and hand you superstardom on a silver platter, then this is the conference you want to attend. It is an educational and internetworking event coordinated by InterMixx, the membership based organization that has been helping indies for over 20 years. However, the IMC is ultimately planned and built by you - the independent musician who wants to succeed on your own terms. Your opinions and ideas are needed. To find out how to get involved and to check out the very latest on the IMC, join our Facebook Event Page and get in on the planning and discussion!
IMC MISSION STATEMENT
MISSION:
The Independent Music Conference seeks first and foremost to help independent musicians achieve their goals as entrepreneurial business owners through the presentation of educational seminars, workshops, panel discussions, mentor sessions networking opportunities, performance instruction, evaluation and critique, and live performances. Secondarily, the IMC seeks to positively affect the entire music conference industry, which for too long, has not presented true professional conferences to the music industry in keeping with standards set by other professions. The IMC seeks to alter the erroneous perceptions of conferences as "festivals," "gigs," and "concerts." The main purposes of any worthwhile industry conference should focus on education and networking. At the Independent Music Conference, musicians are treated like any other professional business person, and by setting a higher standard for music conferences in general, the IMC helps encourage and promote the profession of music to the benefit of all.
VISION:
It is our hope to achieve 501 (c) non-profit status, and continue expanding the event to multiple annual presentations in a number of cities around the country. Furthermore, we'd like to connect with more schools and work together with them to augment and assist their music education efforts. Another goal we hope to see become a reality is the establishment of an IMC Scholarship fund, which would assist talented young performers with their education.
VALUES:
The core values driving the IMC are, honesty, integrity, courage, commitment, dedication, motivation, inspiration, and perspiration. We strive to educate by example, and remain flexible and adaptive, always seeking to be cutting edge, and present information, contacts, resources and services which are aimed at the future, but rooted in reality.
"Noel, I just wanted to share some thoughts about the IMC. One of the biggest assets you've built up over the last 7 years is an amazing track record of credibility. The cumulative record of what has been offered and achieved since 2003 is an impressive and valuable asset. Anything that has lasted for 7 years and produced 10 or more events is doing something worthwhile, and people need to see that. The Industry Pros that have been presenters/mentors at IMC is an incredibly impressive list. The geographic diversity and the number of events provides indisputable credibility and legitimacy to the IMC. The artists who have performed and been presented with Immie Awards at IMC is another amazing list. The workshops and panels that have been presented at IMC represent an incredible display of knowledge. The sponsors/exhibitors at IMC is a who's who of the industry. The press that the IMC has received confirms all of this... and nothing beats a credible track record of excellence." Bill Pere, Exec. Director CSA, Author "Songcrafters' Coloring Book"
"Hello, Noel, and the rest of IMC. My name is Jason Rubal. I am a producer in the Harrisburg, PA area. I own Seventh Wave Studio. I've worked with bands that have been on the Lollapalooza Tour, Vans Warped Tour, Nine Inch Nails world tour, and Halo Star tour. I worked with The Dresden Dolls on world tour with Nine Inch Nails, I work out of the the private studio owned by the band LIVE, and have worked for several labels including Nothing Records, owned by Trent Reznor. First, let me say, I am impressed, very impressed. The world could certainly benefit from a few more of you! The integrity, the sincerity, it is what the industry needs. I have heard Noel speak, and I have been on your website. Finally, someone who "gets it" is in control of something. Bravo. Noel, I am honored that you have allowed me to be a part of such an event filled with integrity and genuine interest in helping musicians. Of all the events such as these, yours is the most organized and sincere. Year after year, please consider myself a part of the IMC." Jason Rubal, Seventh Wave Studio
"I learned alot more at this year's IMC than I did at any of the various conferences I have attended over the last 5 years. I also got to see some of the most talented and refreshingly original musicians and artists I've seen in one conglomeration." Tah Phrum Duh Bush!
"I highly recommend this conference for any artist who really wants to be on the cutting edge." Jean-Marc Rejaud of Focus Marketing
"We didn't experience the usual "us" and "them" feeling between artists and industry folk." Millie Landrum of Waterplanet
"I just have to tell everyone that IMC2003 was the one of the best times I have EVER had with my band! The panels were unbelievable and the bands were slammin'!!!" Madame Venus of Swampbytche
